About Us

The GiftWorks team is made up of hard working and caring individuals who have a heart for nonprofit organizations and a passion for making great donor software. For the past decade, our focus has been giving nonprofits the solutions and tools needed to accomplish their mission. Every day, the sales team, development team, customer support representatives, and every other member of the team work hard to get GiftWorks into the hands of nonprofits and help them to use GiftWorks to advance their cause, raise money, and accomplish their goals.

Many members of the GiftWorks team donate their time, effort, and other resources to nonprofits in Lancaster, PA and the surrounding area. We trust that our efforts, in cooperation with nonprofits around the world, can impact our generation and generations to come.

Guiding Principles

Make it easy.

Most software is too hard to use. Software shouldn’t require extensive training on how to use it.  We made GiftWorks easy to use with obvious tasks written in plain English, yet powerful enough to greatly simplify fundraising and donor management tasks that typically took a lot of time, like mail merges.  We accomplished our goal and we hope that we can help you accomplish yours.

Make it affordable.

Most software for nonprofits is way too expensive.  With other solutions costing tens of thousands of dollars, many organizations end up using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access or some other unwieldy, inefficient approach. GiftWorks offers an affordable solution, starting at $549 per computer.  No surprises, no hidden costs.  You don’t have to buy support (though you can for a modest monthly fee).  You don’t have to buy training because it’s so easy to learn but we have training available to help you get even better at using GiftWorks.

Our Team

Steve Fafel, CEO Steve joined GiftWorks in 2004 and worked alongside the original founding team to design and develop products and services that could help nonprofits accomplish their mission.  After officially launching GiftWorks in late 2004, he has helped GiftWorks grow to serve thousands of nonprofit organizations across the United States and around the world. Steve has spent over 20 years helping for-profit and nonprofit organizations use technology to build products and solutions.  He had lead software development teams and product design at many companies including R.R. Donnelley, a Fortune 500 company.  After spending a year working in a faith-based nonprofit, Steve joined GiftWorks to help equip nonprofits with solutions that were easy to use, affordable, and powerful.  He continues that work as CEO of GiftWorks. Steve has been married to his wife Vicki for 19 years and they have four children – Steven, Nicholas, Hailey, and Grace.

Jonathan Leaman, Lead Product Developer Jonathan is responsible for overseeing the development and testing of all GiftWorks products and services. He has spent more than 25 years in software development and project leadership at various companies, including R.R Donnelley. Jonathan has worked at GiftWorks since 2006 and has been involved in the development of all GiftWorks versions and editions, most recently leading the development of GiftWorks Pro and GiftWorks Anywhere Pro. Jonathan enjoys using his skills with technology to develop solutions that help non-profit organizations be more effective so they can spend more time focusing on their mission. He has been married to his wife Jackie for over 25 years and they have three boys – Benjamin, Zachary and Nicholas. To relax, he enjoys playing games with his family, camping, going to the beach, watching football and playing almost any sport.
